This week’s Photo of the Week shows five Seattle-area firefighters climbing the city’s famed Space Needle tower to benefit the fight against blood cancers.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several benefit events have been canceled, including the March 2020 Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the New Zealand Climb scheduled for May 22.
The five firefighters from the Seattle Fire Department, Mercer Island Fire Department and Port of Seattle Fire Department refused to let the pandemic stop them from bringing awareness to the disease, and, wearing their gear and PPE, climbed the Space Needle with a New Zealand Fire Service flag to show their support.
