CELORON, N.Y. — Police say a man ripped a mask off a firefighter's face during a house fire on Monday.
Celoron and Lakewood firefighters were battling the blaze Monday night when Ellicott police say a man began to argue with a volunteer firefighter inside the home, according to The Post-Journal. The man then allegedly grabbed the firefighter's mask and ripped it off of their face, damaging the mask, police said.
The suspect, Todd Rosendahl, 53, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and obstructing firefighting operations, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office investigators determined that the cause of the blaze was "an unmaintained wood stove that was surrounded by combustible material" and said the house was condemned due to the damage.
