A new NFPA 1970 standard went into effect on September 18, 2024. The new standard consolidated, among others, NFPA 1971 and 1981 standards addressing requirements for both structural firefighting protective clothing (including garments, helmets, gloves, footwear and hoods) and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) that are now part of a new consolidated NFPA 1970 standard.
